What we collect, and what we deliberately do not
Vexam is a mobile application for professional examination preparation. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@vexamprep.com and ask.
We do not require you to sign in. You can install the app, study, and pay for a subscription without ever giving us your name or email. Signing in is optional and exists so your progress survives losing your phone.
So that the app works before you decide, it creates an anonymous account on first launch. It is a random identifier held on your device. It is not linked to your name, your email or your Apple ID, and we cannot use it to identify you. Your study activity is stored against it, which is what lets the app answer your tutor questions and count your practice. If you later sign in, the same record becomes yours.
Account information (only if you sign in): when you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address, and use them to identify your account and restore your progress.
Study activity: which questions you answered, whether you got them right, how long you took, and your mock exam results. This is stored on your device and copied to our servers against the anonymous account described above, so it can be restored to a new phone and so we can see which questions people find hard.
Tutor questions: if you ask the in-app tutor a follow-up question, the question you typed, the exam question it relates to and the answer you gave are sent to our server and on to an AI provider to generate an answer. We do not send your name or email with it. We keep a copy of the exchange so we can check the quality of the answers our own product gives.
Diagnostics: crash reports and basic usage events, so we can find and fix faults. These do not contain your study answers.
Purchases: handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details, and we cannot charge or refund you directly.
If you claim under our guarantee, you send us a copy of your exam result by email. We ask you to black out everything except your name, the result, and the date you sat the exam.
We read it, grant the extension, and delete it. We do not keep a copy, and we do not store it in the app or on our servers.
The app can send you a daily study reminder and, if your exam is close and you have stopped practising, one nudge. Nothing else. We ask your permission before sending anything, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
Google Firebase provides our authentication, database, crash reporting and analytics. Anthropic processes tutor questions to generate answers. Apple and Google process payments. Each acts under contract and only for the purposes above.
We do not keep study data indefinitely, whether or not you signed in:
Deleting your account removes your data before those periods are up. Uninstalling the app removes everything held on your device.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@vexamprep.com and we will act within 30 days. You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings, or via this page.
Vexam is for candidates preparing for a professional nursing licence and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below. Material changes will be announced in the app.
